Lodge Alley ran on the west from the block of 2nd St. between Chestnut and Walnut Streets to Smith's Alley, which ran north and south between Dock Street and Chestnut Street. Its most famous resident was Dr. Benjamin Rush, signer of the Declaration of Independence and probably the foremost medical doctor in Philadelphia at the time.
